Detailed Itinerary
We pick you up early from your hotel and drive to Km 82, the official start of the Inca Trail. The first day is relatively easy, serving as training for the days ahead. We will hike along the Urubamba River, enjoying views of the snow-capped Veronica mountain, until we reach our first campsite at Wayllabamba.
Today is the most challenging day. We will wake up early to conquer the infamous Dead Woman’s Pass (Warmiwañusca) at 4,215 meters. The ascent is steep, but the feeling of reaching the top is unforgettable. Afterwards, we descend to the Pacaymayo valley for a well-deserved rest.
This is the most beautiful day of the trek. We will cross two lower passes and visit several stunning Inca ruins. The landscape changes from high mountain terrain to lush cloud forest before arriving at our final campsite, Wiñay Wayna.
We wake up before dawn to hike to Inti Punku (The Sun Gate), where we will catch our first glorious glimpse of Machu Picchu. After a guided tour of the citadel, you will have free time to explore. In the afternoon, we take the train back to Cusco.
