Day 4: Wiñaywayna – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes – Cusco

  • Check-in at control stall to hike up to Inti Punku, the Sun Gate.
  • Inti Punku offers the first breathtaking views of Machu Picchu, an indescribable moment.

  • After the tour, we take the bus down to Aguas Calientes for a satisfying meal and leisurely exploration.

Our expert guide will personally visit your hotel, ensuring you are fully informed and equipped for this unforgettable adventure. Day 1: CUSCO – KM 82 – TARACHAYOC WAYLLABAMBA.

At 4:30 am, your guide will come and get you from your Cusco hotel to start your Classic Inca Trail excursion. We reach Ollantaytambo’s Kilometer 82, the beginning of the Classic Inca Trail, after a filling breakfast.

You’ll have time to get ready, arrange your stuff, and finish off any procedures when you arrive at KM82. Having obtained our passports and permits, we set out along the route, across the Vilcanota River and taking in the breathtaking scenery.

You can gradually adjust to the altitude thanks to the moderate pace of the day’s hike. Admire the stunning Llactapata inca site and the Inca Fortress of Huillca Raccay as you go. At Tarachayoc, we’ll have lunch before moving on to our first campground, which is Wayllabamba.

Day 2: WAYLLABAMBA – DEAD WOMAN’S PASS -PACAYMAYO

On the Classic Inca Trail 4-Day Tour, we set off early to make the most of the chilly morning air as we climb Warmiwañusca, or Dead Woman’s Pass, which is a towering 4200 meters (13 800 feet) above sea level. Our strenuous climb pays off with expansive vistas of Andean scenery and snow-capped mountains, highlighting the many ecological zones found along the Inca Trail.

We may take in the amazing surroundings and have a well-earned break and picture ops after we reach the peak. We hike down from the pass to Pacaymayo, our next camping, which is tucked away at an elevation of 3600 meters. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon to recuperate from your filling lunch and get ready for the adventures tomorrow.

Day 3: PACAYMAYO, CHAQUICOCHA, INTI PATA AND WIÑAY WAYNA

On the third day of our Inca Trail journey, as the sun rises, we are more excited to uncover the secret archeological treasures that lie ahead. Following a substantial breakfast, we left the Pacaymayo campsite and started our strenuous but thrilling climb.

We adventure past the impressive Runcuracay archeological site and cross the Runcuracay Pass, which rises to 3,850 meters and is the second-highest point on the Inca Trail. We travel along the old Inca trail, stopping to view the interesting Sayacmarca site before moving on to Phuyupatamarca, where we will have lunch.

While hiking, we pass through a tunnel and stop to admire the path’s foundations cut into the rock. From the Tirth pass Phuyupatamarca, we descend to Intipata, another intriguing site before reaching our final campsite Wiñaywayna.

Day 4:

WIÑAYWAYNA – MACHU PICCHU – AGUAS CALIENTES –  CUSCO

As the dawn breaks on the fourth and final day of our Inca Trail expedition, the excitement of reaching Machu Picchu becomes a reality. Following an early morning meal, we set out on the concluding leg of our journey towards the renowned lost city.

Our initial stop is at the control checkpoint, where we complete formalities before commencing our climb to Inti Punku, also known as the Sun Gate. This iconic viewpoint provides the initial awe-inspiring vistas of Machu Picchu, a moment beyond words.

Descending into the ancient citadel, we embark on a 2-hour guided exploration, delving into the secrets and history of this remarkable marvel. 

Then, we descend to Aguas Calientes, Machu Picchu town on bus for a satisfying lunch (not included). Enjoy some leisurely moments exploring the town before boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo. A bus then transports us back to Cusco,  marking the end of our unforgettable Classic Inca Trail expedition.

To book your trek with Inca Trail Camping , follow these steps:

Can I store my luggage at your office?

Yes, you can store your luggage with us during your Classic Inca Trail trek. Our company provides storage facilities free of charge for our customers, or you can opt to leave it at your hotel if that’s more convenient for you for free. After your return from the trek, we will return your luggage to you. Just remember to pack only the essentials for your Short Inca Trail journey.

What About The Outstanding Balance? 

Regarding the outstanding balance, it should be settled 2 days before your departure or at the brieffing time. You can make the payment with a credit card, subject to a 7% service fee. Please inform us of your preferred payment method. Cash payments must be made 2 days prior to your Short Inca Trail trip.

For the remaining payment balance, it can be completed one day before your trip either in cash (USD or soles) or online via Visa or PayPal at least one week before your departure, subject to a 7% service fee.”

What’s the procedure for paying the outstanding balance?

The remaining balance of classic incatrail 4 day must be settled in cash upon your arrival in Cusco, two days before the departure date. Alternatively, you can pay via credit card through PayPal, with a 7% service fee, at least five days before the trip. Let us know your preference.

Can I Change My Departure Date After Confirming the Tour?
If you need to adjust your departure date, it’s possible based on availability. However, there’s a $100 per person fee for changing the date, covering the cost of a new Inca Trail permit and the train ticket penalties.

Do I Need My Original Passport?
Absolutely! Your original passport, matching the one used for reservation, is crucial for checkpoints along the Inca Trail, at Machu Picchu, and when boarding the train. How Does Booking Huayna Picchu Work?
For the classic Inca Trail hikers, we secure Huayna Picchu tickets for the 10-11 a.m. slot, ensuring a smooth transition from the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and allowing ample time for exploration.

What Happens to Our Duffle Bag on Day 4?
On the final day, porters leave the campsite early to catch a train back to Ollantaytambo. Some porters hike to Aguas Calientes carring the bags, where they store the duffle bags for pickup after visiting Machu Picchu.

What Is the Train Schedule for the Return Journey?
The return train typically departs at 2:55 or 3:20 p.m. back to Ollantaytambo station, with the journey taking approximately 4 hours to reach Cusco.

Can I Stay in the Sacred Valley for the Inca Trail?
Yes, staying in Urubamba or Ollantaytambo allows for a later pickup, providing more rest before the hike.

Changes and Refunds

Baggage and Gear
